Welcome!

worldcitizenbutton1Welcome to the World Citizen Challenge 2009. If you look above the header, you’ll see several pages to help you get acquainted with the reading challenge: About (which explains the philosophy of the challenge), Rules (self-explanatory), and Suggested Reading (contains lists of books that fall into each category). The Mini-Challenge and Review Directory pages will become more relevent as the challenge progresses-for now they’re basically place holders.

I want to list all the participants in the blogroll to the right, so please use the Mister Linky on the sign-up post letting me know you’re joining. You don’t need to worry about having a reading list or anything yet, but if you do happen to have one, you can leave the link to it in a comment on the participants’ reading lists post.

I’m so excited to get started, and I hope that in addition to learning through our reading, we learn through discussions. For that reason, if you’d like to be a member of this blog and able to write your own posts, just send me an e-mail (astripedarmchair AT gmail DOT com) and I’ll add you. This way, you’ll be able to cross-post reviews, maybe just share snippets of the book you’re reading that seem interesting, ask questions. etc. If you don’t want to be a member, please let me know whenever you’ve reviewed a challenge-relevent book on your own blog (you can leave a comment or e-mail me) so that I can add it to the review directory.

In addition to the regular challenge, each month I’ll be providing a different mini-challenge. Participation is entirely optional but will give you a chance to win various prizes. The first mini-challenge will be unveiled on January 1st!

I think that about sums it up: please feel free to ask questions. And thank you for joining me!!
